Next to buying a house, buying a car is one of the biggest purchase in every household. Buying a car is no joke. A chunk of our paycheck will be taken out for the monthly payment of that car.

That is why before we take our wallets out and place a bank loan, we should know what is the best car that would fit our family and our lifestyle. Here are some points to consider and questions you need to ask yourself before you commit to buying your dream car.

1. What are you going to use it for?
We buy cars for different reasons. Some buy for family use. Some buy for business. If you have a small family, then a small compact car would suffice. If you are using for a daily drive to the office, buying a big van would not be advisable.

2. Have you checked more than one dealer?
When we were going to buy our first car, my husband checked different dealers before negotiating. We ended up buying our car a few cities away but went home with the best deal. We were definitely pretty happy with our purchase.

3. How much are you willing to pay?
Obviously, you can’t buy something you can’t afford. Only buy a car that you know you can sustain. Remember that aside from the down payment and monthly loan, you will also pay for insurance, maintenance, gas, daily parking, etc. Don’t make a mistake of only looking at your monthly bank responsibility. Our friend likened having a car to having a new baby. Once you bring your new car home, another set of expense starts.

There is massive choices in the market. That is why you have to research first and be very picky. First find the best car that would suit your family then find the best deal on the market.
